Return To Ravens "Unlikely" For Eugene Monroe

Posted on March 07, 2014 by Phil Gentile

Not looking good for an offensive line that was already in shambles following a 8-8 record in 2013. After Pitta inked a five-year deal last week I was sure the team would then use the franchise tag on their 26 year old left tackle. After all, Ozzie Newsome traded a 4th and 5th round pick to the Jaguars for his services and the Ravens don't typically mortgage their future for a one-year rental.

With Monroe unlikely to return and Michael Oher VERY unlikely to return the team only has offensive tackles Ricky Wagner and David Mims (who?) left on the roster. With free agency starting on Tuesday, look for the Ravens front office to be active early and often to find their replacements. If not they will likely need to trade up in May's NFL Draft to land a starting caliber tackle.
