In their preseason opener, the Ravens beat the 49ers 23-3 in front of 70,529 fans at M&T Bank Stadium. Should we be excited? Well yea of course. Besides the final score, there were several bright spots on both sides of the ball. Most importantly, Gary Kubiak's offense moved down the field at will in their opening drive, with a steady pace that we haven't seen here in Baltimore in some time. Flacco found Pitta, Jones, Juszczyk, Smith and Rice on the drive before Bernard Pierce ran it in for the touchdown. Albeit only one game, this team could reach offensive numbers that we haven't seen since the team moved here in 1996. That's definitely something to be excited about.

Quick Thoughts:

- In my mind there's no way Dennis Pitta doesn't catch 80-90 balls in this offense if he plays a full sixteen game season. He will be fed early and often.

- C.J. Mosley did not disappoint as he was all over the field. He even registered a sack right before halftime.

- I'm excited to see how much Kyle Juszczyk is featured in the passing game. He's got the talent to make catches when needed.

- Rookie running back Lorenzo Taliaferro ran really hard, leading the team with 71 yards on 13 carries. With Rice's suspension he could see a limited role but I think he'll still be behind Pierce and Forsett on the pecking order.

- Ryan Jensen and Chykie Brown were two players right off the bat that need to work on things. Jensen was being manhandled at certain points and Brown got flagged a couple times in the 1st quarter.

- My 2014 man crush Jeremy Butler caught a touchdown pass in the 4th quarter. Really hoping they keep him around this season. Tons of potential.

- No injuries to report which is always a good thing. Tyrod Taylor banged his hand against someone's helmet but it doesn't sound like anything serious.

- Ray Rice looked good in limited action but the story on Friday morning will be the crowd's positive reaction to him during pregame introductions. What do you expect a stadium of Ravens fans to do? Boo him? While I've been totally anti-Rice this entire offseason, booing the guy doesn't really accomplish much. If/when he struggles this season, though, you better believe I will be letting him know from wherever I'm sitting.
